PostHeaderIcon Restaurant Menus: A Good Menu Reflects The Personality Of The Restaurant

Restaurant Menus should reflect they style and atmosphere of a restaurant. When developing one care should be taken to provide customers with a sense of what the restaurant is all about. If the establishment is a family restaurant the menu should have family friendly entrees as well as visually appeal to those people that have families. If it is a formal restaurant the menu should have more chic entrees and the look of the menu should be more precise and conservative.

There is much more to a menu than just the items to order and the prices. Many considerations have to be made when developing a menu. Demographics are very important. Pricing wholly depends on the average salary a person or family makes within the area of the restaurant. You may notice when visiting a chain restaurant in several different towns that they have the same menu items but the prices may be different. The cost of living in an area dictates how much a restaurant can charge for an item. The same item may cost a few dollars more at a restaurant in New York City or Boston than it does in a small town in Ohio. Demographics make a huge difference in what is to on the menu at a restaurant as well. If an area has many elderly people the restaurant may want to cater to them by giving them discounts or the menu may allow for smaller senior meals. The print on this menu may need to be a little larger to make sure the elderly can read it. If the area has families then they want to have a children’s menu with family friendly food.

PostHeaderIcon Saving Money on Restaurant Supplies in Small/Towns and Mid-West Cities

High unemployment coupled with uncertainty about existing jobs is causing consumers to be ultra conservative when it comes to luxuries such as dining out.  As a result, cutting costs is becoming even more important now as restaurants suffer from the current economy. When the economy was strong, restaurant owners were able to purchase replacement supplies without a second thought. Location and convenience was a greater concern than saving a little money.

However, in rougher times, restaurants owners are much more cost conscious and willing to go the extra mile to save on costs for replacement supplies. An example of this can be found in restaurants that are located in small cities or less populated mid-west states. These restaurants have few options available when looking for restaurant supplies, whether it is for starting a new restaurant or for replacement supplies.  Restaurants are typically in one of two scenarios: 1. the city is so small that a restaurant supplier does not exist. 2. the city is large enough to have a restaurant supplier, however there is only one or two and their prices reflect the minimal competition in the area and/or their product selection/inventory is small. Restaurants in these situations end up paying a premium for their restaurant supplies and settle with the local selection available.  However, there is an alternative for restaurants in this situation.  Restaurants can look for restaurant suppliers in larger cities in nearby states. Often restaurant suppliers in larger cities have more competition, making their prices much more competitive and thus lower than restaurant suppliers in smaller cities/states. The second benefit for getting your restaurant supplies from out of state is non-residents of the nearby state are not subject to that state’s sales tax.

PostHeaderIcon Effective Restaurant Marketing – Mobile Marketing for Restaurants and Bars

Competition is fierce in the restaurant industry in today’s economy as restaurant owners are finding it more and more difficult to fill their tables on a nightly basis. It doesn’t matter what the cuisine is or the posh nature of the establishment: the recession has hit this industry hard, to the point where just about every restaurant is scrambling for ways to effectively market themselves in unique manners.

Forget about traditional marketing – studies upon studies show that mobile marketing and campaign video email are the most effective forms of promotion in today’s world. The beauty of mobile marketing is that you can effectively utilize SMS text messages to build an opt-in database of strong and targeted prospective customers much easier than thought possible via traditional print media and do it cost-effectively as well where your restaurant mobile marketing actually costs less!

With that in mind, here are five mobile business-building steps you must take to insure your restaurant can compete in today’s recessionary times for effective restaurant marketing: 1) Purchase a mobile keyword and brand your restaurant around it. Effective restaurant marketing begins with this step. Your mobile keyword can be a version of your restaurant name or you can make it generic if you’d like (text HOTDEALS to 69302 as an example – but beware, mobile text message marketing has become so popular many strong generic keywords are already taken)

If you own or manage a busy restaurant and do not yet use a restaurant pager system for seating and serving your guests, you may want to consider the benefits a restaurant pager system can bring to your establishment. Consider the following situation and see if it sounds familiar.

On a weekend night, an elegant restaurant that usually has a peaceful and quiet atmosphere during the week is loud and chaotic at times due to the large crowds and numbers of people standing around at the front door waiting for a table. If you own or manage a restaurant, you know that this is a good problem to have because it means that business is good. But problems can arise when guests continually ask the host or hostess if a table is ready yet or if their name has been called yet because maybe they didn’t hear. People may wait impatiently for a little while and then leave irritated because the restaurant was too noisy and crowded, or leave angry because they feel forgotten. Both the restaurant patrons and the restaurant servers can feel stressed, which can turn a place that is supposed to be an enjoyable one into a hostile environment, resulting in the loss of business, the loss of valuable employees, and the loss of restaurant profits. With a restaurant pager system a lot of these problems can be greatly reduced, or even eliminated. A restaurant pager system involves the use of pagers given to guests and/or the use of pagers by the restaurant staff to communicate with each other. Many restaurants have started using a restaurant pager system and have seen great results, and also received positive feedback from their guests.
